I'm so happy and excited that he's coming with me. He's not quite as reckless a traveller as I am in that he does have concerns about safety, hygiene and comfort in general. For me, safety is the major consideration....the other two of his concerns are not issues for me.
As he pointed out, Japan is a modern country and extremely safe so it's just right up his alley. We had a great time travelling together in Guatemala and I'm looking forward to doing this trip with him.
We do have quite a few interests in common one of which is gardening and I think the idea of visiting Japan during cherry blossom season was appealing to him.
I told him that in addition to seeing the cherry blossoms, I really wanted to time the trip such that we end up in the village of Takayama to see their spring festival. He responded,
"Yes, you are a sucker for festivals and floats. Do I see a trend here? I will get a Japan tour book from the library and see what there is to see."I am indeed a sucker for festivals and I have a feeling that if this goes off well, so will he :-)
Well, with bro on board, I now need to plan for two!
